Most Common Scams

The number of scams targeting the public is amazing. Financial losses due to scam artists are in the billions! These scams are constantly changing and are regularly “recycled” with new twists. These con artists will use any tactic at their disposal to convince you, including impersonating reputable charities or law enforcement. Here are some common tactics used by these con artists:
* Trying to force you to make a rushed decision
* Disguising of the real phone numbers, even using fake or spoofed phone numbers or real organizations or government officials
* Asking for your personal information such as Social Security number, bank account, or other personal information.
* Offering FREE travel or extravagant prizes if you sign up now by providing your personal information.
* Ask you to provide payment on a prepaid (i.e. “Green-Dot”) type card.
* Impersonating law enforcement or government agents. LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL NEVER CALL YOU AND THREATEN YOUR ARREST OR ADVISE YOU THAT YOU HAVE A WARRANT.
* Bottom line…IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT’S A SCAM!
